Biography

Jahmaal Noel Fyffe also known as Chipmunk is a Grime MC from Tottenham, North London. He started to MC at the age of 14, practising at his local youth club after a lot of people in his area spat lyrics, and listened to the likes of Meridian Crew and Roll Deep. Chipmunk became a member of Shoddy Crew, who had a show on Heat FM and, as a result, gained an underground following. Wiley showed an interest in his music and brought him into Eskibeat Recordings which gave him much more exposure and got him onto Tim Westwood's show where he and Ice Kid did a famously brilliant set. this was his peak as a grime MC. Chipmunk left Eskibeat and joined Alwayz Recordings. Chipmunk was also a member of the crew Circular Movements, along with Shalo Kid.

He was regarded as one of the grime scene's best talents, having already released three mixtapes and two promos by the age of 17, as well as working with Cookie G and Black The Ripper on the Motivation Music series. Chipmunk was nominated for 'Best Newcomer' at the 2008 MOBO Awards, along with Skepta. Chipmunk went on to win the award.
