The Newham Generals are a grime collective from East London, forming after the joint decision of D Double E, Footsie and Monkster to leave Nasty Crew. The crew's name comes from one of D Double's lyrics: 'If you mess with the Newham General, you'll get left in Newham General'. They were soon signed to Dizzee Rascal's Dirtee Stank label. They have released a mixtape and an album. The Best Of Newham Generals and Generally Speaking respectively. The latter was not seen as a grime release due to the distorted lyrics and strange beats. On December 7th 2009, the Generals released the single Hard, which is a crossover song (the original was priduced by Breakage). It was well recieved and got a lot of airplay on Logan Sama's show during October and November.
