About
"The Calm Before The Storm" is the 4th mix tape release from East London MC Ghetts. It's a combination of (mainly) Grime and Hip Hop productions and contains all the witty, intricate flows and wordplay we are used to hearing from the Plaistow MC who's name has dominated 2010 most notably for his on-going rivalry with OG's Mc P Money which is addressed amongst other things on the CDs introduction track. DJ favourites such as "Artillery" (also featured in Noel Clark's motion picture "Shank"), Trained 2 Kill, Grime Daily and more all make the cut along with a host of features that range from R&B sensation Shola Ama to up and coming MC's Maxsta & Delusion plus other input from Devlin, Griminal, Fix Dot'M and many more. Productions come from some of Grime's finest keyboard magicians right now including Teddy (aka Silencer), Rude Kid, Z Dot plus a host more. One of the most interesting aspects of the CD is how it compares to the previous releases which each show a different side to Justin Clark, one writer for Grimeforum.com said 'Whether I’d similarise Ghetts' newest offering to Ghetto Gospel or Freedom of Speech, I’m not sure. It’s a release of it’s own and a development on from previous CDs. Progressing on his lyrical skills, keeping a grimy sound to the completed project and something I look forward to owning on CD when it’s out. I can see this becoming a favourite Ghetts release for the more hardcore and casual grime fans.' In a separate review for MTV Wrap-Up, Hyperfrank wrote 'Fans of Ghetts will definitely not be disappointed as the CD gives a collective meltdown of all the proclaimed previous releases into one release, although there does leave a space for improvement for the official cyclone which we hope these tweaks will be addressed on.' The CD also contains two bonus tracks which were those used as war dubs against P Money.
